The orphanage and the country

The orphanage Holy Thérèse is situated on the municipality of Lumbila (Province of Ziniare) in 20 km from Ouagadougou. About 150 kids are gathered inside, of course, the number is going up  each year

 Burkina Faso " homeland of the honorable men ", is the name of the french colony of " Haute Volta " , became independant in August 1983 .

The country is surrounded  by Mali, Niger,Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory coast countries and the African desert on North. 12 million people are living on a space of 274.000 km².

The Burkina Faso is divided into 45 provinces and  350 departments. Every province is managed by a High-commissioner and every department, by a Prefect.

Ouagadougou is the capital of the country. Bobo-Dioulasso, situated in 360 km from the capital, is the second city.. Other important cities are: Banfora, Dédougou, Dori, Crackpot N' Gourma, Gaoua, Kaya, Koudougou, Ouahigouya, the Pô and Tenkodogo.
 

The Burkina Faso is one of the poorest countries in the world, the desertification is going on more each year and so  famine and extreme poverty as well. 90%of the l population is rural and live on the bush.  Every year this population is confronted with the lack of water , bad raining season and so the famine.
